About our audit bot

RetentionSmithAuditBot is the automated visitor that runs RetentionSmith's free lifecycle audit. It identifies itself with this user agent:

RetentionSmithAuditBot/1.0 (+https://retentionsmith.com/bot)

When it visits. Only when someone requests an audit of a store at retentionsmith.com. It does not crawl the web on its own.

What it reads. A few public pages of the requested store (today, the homepage) and public DNS records for the domain. It never logs in, submits forms, places orders or reads anything behind a password.

How it behaves. It follows your robots.txt. If your site blocks it or asks it to slow down (for example HTTP 403 or 429), it stops, tries at most once more later, and reports that the store couldn't be checked. It does not disguise itself or switch networks to get around a block.

How to block it. Add this to your robots.txt:
